Kick Off to Kindergarten
The Kick Off to Kindergarten program targets rising kindergarten students and their families. In its 5th year, the program is expanding workshops as well that will expose the parents and the children to the typical events they will be experience in Kindergarten.
Annual fundraiser includes an evening of heavy hors d’oeuvres, festive drinks and silent auction helps to underwrite the annual operating costs of the Children’s Museum of Winston-Salem as it brings literature, storytelling and the arts to life for the children and families of our community.
Truck and Treat
This event, formerly known as Touch a Truck, which draws more than 700 people annually to the museum and downtown area, is undergoing a facelift this year. This year, the museum is expanding the event to center around Halloween activities as well as Day of the Dead. We hope this will bring more families out to enjoy the museum as well as celebrate the Hispanic culture. The event will continue to have a ‘festival feel’ with food vendors, entertainment, bounce-house, many ‘vehicles’ and lots more. Cost to attend: $5/person (usual admission is $7/person).
Summer Camp 2013
(June – August 2013)
Sponsors will receive name/company logo recognition on the Children’s Museum of Winston-Salem’s on all materials related to summer camp including the camp brochure, website, e-newsletter, calendar, e-blasts, and flyers sent to all elementary school children in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County school district. Each child attending summer camp will also receive a t-shirt with the Children’s Museum logo and your company’s logo. Camp themes include music, theatre, art, building construction, and others.

Discount Friday nights
The museum hosts discount Friday night each month and likes to partner with businesses at least once per quarter to offer not only $3 admission to the museum, but a free admission option with a donation as well. As a sponsor of a discount Friday night, the museum can work with another non-profit of your choice or one tackling a relevant issue to offer free admission. Previous examples include school supplies, clothing, canned goods and others.
Discounted Sunday Admission
In an effort to encourage more visits on Sundays and to offer another opportunity for more members of the community to be able to afford to visit the Children’s Museum, we would like to begin a Discount Sunday program. This program would reduce admission from $7 to $5 per person every Sunday for an entire year. We are very excited about this opportunity and believe it is a great marketing tool for a company to receive one year’s worth of advertising and marketing along with the museum for this program.
Title 1 Field Trips Sponsor
More than 8,000 students from approximately 125 preschools and elementary schools throughout the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County and surrounding regional area visited the Children’s Museum of Winston-Salem during the last school year. Of those 8,000, approximately 2,200 students are from Title I schools. This is a 60% increase from the previous year and we expect this number to continue to rise. As the number of schools classified as Title 1 continues to rise, CMWS must find ways to offset the cost incurred by hosting the field trips. All exhibitions and programs support pertinent goals and objectives of the North Carolina Standard Course of Study for K through 3rd or North Carolina Early Learning Foundations for pre-K students.
