Volunteer Application

The Children’s Museum of Winston-Salem values volunteers and the time and energy they contribute to the success of the Museum!

We have volunteer opportunities available in these categories.

Play Specialist
Alongside our Playologists, a Play Specialist will interact with guests and promote an exceptional Museum experience. This volunteer opportunity includes helping with daily programs, engaging children with our educational enrichment carts, and tidying the exhibits.  Play specialists are needed Tuesday—Friday from 9-1, Saturdays from 10-5 and Sundays from 1-5.

Special Event Volunteer
A Special Event Volunteer helps the Museum staff prepare for special events by assisting with set up and clean up, serving food and leading activities and crafts with families. Special events typically occur on weekend days or after hours on Saturday evenings.

Summer Camp Volunteer
Our summer camps are packed full of energy and fun! As a summer camp volunteer, you’ll assist the teachers with set up and clean up, supervise safe play in the museum and lead themed crafts and activities.

Children’s Museum on the Road Volunteer
*must be at least 16 years old

Children’s Museum on the Road Volunteers serve to support the CMWS at off-site events in our community. Volunteers serving in this role will work along side Junior League of Winston-Salem members to increase the visibility of the Children’s Museum in the community. Volunteers will promote the mission of the Museum and offer fun crafts and activities at community events like the BookMARKS Festival.

Office Volunteer
If you prefer to work at your own pace and enjoy organizing, volunteering in our office might be the best fit for you!  Stuff envelopes, prepare materials for school groups and help with other light office duties.
