Group Visits

Any group of 15 or more may reserve a group visit during these general Museum hours:

Tuesday – Friday, 9am – 4pm

Saturday, 10am – 5pm

Sunday, 1pm – 5pm

(Summer hours include Mondays, 9am – 4pm)

Group visits include:

  • Orientation upon arrival
  • Schedules for exploration of the Museum
  • Museum Guide (map and behavior guidelines)
  • Reserved space in lunch room

 

School Field Trips (September – May)

School groups may visit during general Museum hours and may request a lesson plan taught by Museum staff that meets grade-appropriate state standards.  Lesson plans are provided at no extra cost.  Please click here to see lesson plan options:Educator’s Guide 2013-2014

 

Group visit with lesson plan includes:

  • Orientation upon arrival
  • Lesson plan (story, activity and craft) with take-home
  • Schedules for exploration of the Museum
  • Museum Guide (map and behavior guidelines)
  • Reserved space in lunch room

 

Cost for Group Visits and School Field Trips

  • The group rate at the Children’s Museum of Winston-Salem is $5/child.  We require 1 adult chaperone for every 5 children. The required chaperones are free; any additional guests (parents, grandparents, guests, siblings) will receive the same discounted group admission rate.
  • Payment for your group is requested on the day of your visit.  If your school is coming on multiple days, you may make one payment on the last day of your visits. We accept cash, check or credit card (Visa, MasterCard & Discover).
    • Parents, grandparents, guests, and siblings can pay separately at the door.
    • Children’s Museum Family Memberships do not apply to group visits.
    • Children’s Museum coupons do not apply to group visits.
    • September, December, and January are discount months, with group admission only $4/child.
    • Home School discount: school-age children $3 per child, Tuesday – Friday from Labor Day through Memorial Day. Home school educators are free with proof of home school educator status from the state (ID, email, official letter).

Storybook Discovery Trunks inspire curiosity and motivates learning. Transform the classroom into a participatory environment that fosters creative thought along with critical thinking and analysis. These trunks contain materials designed to be a resource to help Pre-Kindergarten through Fifth Grade Teachers and may be borrowed for up to one month.  Choose from 6 trunks:

  •    Penguins on Parade (Pre-K and Kindergarten)
  •    A River Full of Fun (Pre-K and Kindergarten)
  •    Under the Stars (Pre-K and Kindergarten)
  •    Very Hungry Trunk: Nutrition with Dr. Seuss and Friends (Pre-K and Kindergarten)
  •    Climbing to Nutrition (Kindergarten  and 1st Grade)
  •    Conquering the Continents (3rd through 5th Grade)

An educator ID must be presented at pick-up.
